It’s designed to cut the energy costs for the Cherokee Nation Community Center by over half.
Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION, Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation Chuck Hoskin Jr. announced the plan to install cost-saving solar panels on the Cherokee Nation Community Center beginning Tuesday, September 28.
Hoskin said the cost is about $1,700 a year to keep the lights on but with the addidition of the solar panels, he estimates the cost will only be around $700 a year to run power to the center.
Hoskin said the savings of about a thousand dollars a year could be better spent on the elderly and the children of Cherokee Nation.
