I am 100% in favor of green energy, but it is absurd to suggest that electric vehicles can dramatically reduce climatic pollution at this time (“Charging forward on electric cars,” Reading Eagle, May 16).
The article reports that research shows electric vehicles can dramatically reduce climate pollution. Show me the research. An electric vehicle is inefficient. The generation of electricity is an inefficient process that relies on power plants using coal, oil or natural gas. How can anyone conclude that such a process is going to produce lower emissions?
Maybe 50 years from now that will be true, but I don’t see how that is possible at this time.
