Consumers Energy has announced that it plans to purchase electricity from a solar energy project planned at the former Heathlands Golf Course in Onekama.
Michigan company Prism Power is developing and building the solar energy project that is planned to start operating by the end of 2022.
Consumers Energy says the project will have a capacity of 30 megawatts, which is enough to power nearly 15,000 homes. Consumers Energy plans to purchase power from the project for 20 years.
