Gurgaon: To promote the use of sustainable energy and save expenditure on electricity consumption, the district administration will soon set up a 100 kW solar power plant on the rooftop of mini secretariat.
The district has signed an agreement with a city-based company—Ultimate Sun System, empanelled by the department of New and Renewable Energy — for setting up a solar power plant. Deputy commissioner Yash Garg said that 100 kW solar power plant is being set up in the mini secretariat and it will be grid connected rooftop solar power plant under ‘Resco Mode’ i.e. Renewable Energy Supply Company.
“A power purchase agreement has been done for 25 years with the company and all the expenses related to installation and maintenance of this solar power plant will be borne by them. The electricity generated from this solar power plant will be used in the mini secretariat and the company will provide electricity at the rate of Rs. 4 per unit,” Garg said.
Additional deputy commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said that this solar power plant will generate about 1.25 lakh to 1.50 lakh units of electricity in a year and with its installation, it will save Rs 6 to 7 lakh per year.
