Google Maps is an incredibly useful tool, allowing us to plan routes for long journeys, test our geographical knowledge, and just generally have a nosey around places.
However, one TikTok user believes they spotted people in the middle of ‘committing a crime’ while they were surfing through the site recently.
The user, going by the name ‘Content Dropped’, shared a video that appears to show a group in Poland stealing train tracks in broad daylight.
The video explains: “You won’t believe what I’ve just found.
“I thought I’d seen it all.”
The user then zooms into the map, showing a group of people carrying train tracks in a wheelbarrow across a train line.
The video continues: “But they’re literally stealing train tracks.”
It’s now been viewed thousands of times, with people commenting to share their utter disbelief at what appears to be a brazen act of theft.
One user said: “They must have an inside connection in the railway company, normally those tracks are welded together.”
While another was more trusting of the group in the photo, adding: “Maybe they’re helping replace it.”
But this isn’t the first time Google Maps has stumbled across something pretty odd. Not by a long way.
The pair headed up a remote mountain road in West Taiwan for a bit of nature nookie and presumably thought the Google Maps car was the least of their worries – but alas, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The street view sighting was first shared on social media along with the caption: “I took a look on Google to see whether I’d find some animals, and unexpectedly came across this wonderful sight!
“Google Maps is the greatest ever invention – it’s greater than God. Big Brother is watching. You’re making babies, and now we’re watching you.”
They made that a little bit more sinister than necessary if you ask me, but hey-ho.
